Admission Requirements


All prospective students applying for the Graduate Certificate in Health Analytics must meet the following criteria for admission:

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university in biological, chemical, computer, management information sciences, or a related field.
  • International students must submit equivalent degrees and additional documentation if applicable.

GPA:

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

Documents:

  • Official transcripts.
  • Resume.
  • Two professional or academic letters of recommendation.
  • Statement of Purpose.

Optional:

  • GRE, MCAT, VAT scores, or evidence of substantial health informatics experience to enhance an application.

Certificates Only:

  • Certificate Departmental Approval Form.

Required Courses


This program’s core curriculum requirements include four (4) courses worth three (3) credit hours each. Graduate certificate students can complete the program 100% online and in as few as eight (8) months. Courses include:

Introduction to Healthcare Analytics
A
 comprehensive introduction to the current state of the science and practice of analytics in healthcare. 


Statistics for Healthcare Analytics
An in-depth discussion of selected topics of statistical analysis applicable to healthcare data. It is designed to assist graduate students in the application of traditional statistical methodologies to real life healthcare datasets.


Healthcare Data Mining and Predictive Analytics 
Introduces students to various data mining concepts and algorithms emphasizing on classifiers, clustering and association analysis applicable to the distinct nature of healthcare data.


Health Data Visualization 
Focuses on techniques and methodologies commonly used to explore and present health data to facilitate healthcare decisions.
