The Veterinary Assistant course covers animal handling, medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and client communication. Gain hands-on training in working with animals and veterinary equipment. Study online at your own pace and complete the program in 4 months*. Earn a university-certified certificate from Auburn University, with externship experience, a provided laptop, career services, 24/7 learner support and up to a year of course access.

The Veterinary Assisting program provides essential skills and knowledge for a successful career in animal care. You will learn about:

  • Providing nursing care and assisting in the treatment of animals.
  • Understanding veterinary medicine and your roles and responsibilities within a veterinary team.
  • Defining veterinary medical terms related to animal physiology, anatomy, and pathology.
  • Describing procedures and terms specific to animals, including age, sex, and birthing.

The Medical Assistant training program we offer does not need any prior experience. The only admission requirement is the completion of a high school diploma or GED, or that the students are actively pursuing their diploma or GED. That's it!
